It's lovely to meet you!
I am Vikki, the artist at Wild Design NZ. For most of my working life I have been a scientist, but from an early age I have always loved drawing and painting. My interest in science was first sparked drawing fungi for a project in junior school, and again in high school drawing the workings of a human heart!
Early on in England, I painted and sold wall art of cute animals for children's rooms. After studying, my science career took off and we moved to New Zealand where my drawing/painting became an occasional hobby.
Over the last few of years I have rekindled my love of drawing and painting and discovered surface pattern design, which is now how I spend as much of my time as I can. I love nature with all the different colours and shapes and find the beach and ocean calming and relaxing, New Zealand is a great place for inspiration from nature and the sea! I love swimming and my happy place is spending time at the beach with my husband Steve and my dog Ted (the inspiration for my Loki n Ted design). A lot of my designs are inspired by the beach, the ocean and all the life within it.
